I won’t disagree that diamond prices have been manipulated, or with many of your other arguments against diamonds. However, I don’t agree that a total of 900,000 kilos of diamonds mined means it’s not rare. While that number sounds big, it really isn’t. By comparison, there has been 190 million kilos of gold mined throughout history. And gold is rare, just not as rare as diamonds. Now, unlike diamonds, it’s likely that gold will remain rare as nobody has found a way to synthetically make genuine gold.
